I can't get NO, Satisfaction

Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. NASU

Where does learning begin? It usually begins with a desire to know, to be informed on a subject that we are interested in. Well, one subject I would think would be worth investigating is the subject of happiness. Martha Washington seems to have been a reader of The Word of God, for her words fall along the lines of scripture.

Martha made it a desire in her life to be inclined to happiness and contentment, and found that it wasn’t the circumstances of her life that determined her mood or disposition, it was her attitude. She learned this from Paul. Paul said I have been hungry and full, in abundance and in need, but I have found a secret that strengthens me and keeps me on track.

We can be content, if we really want to learn to be that way, or we can be one that never seems to be satisfied. I like that old song, “I Am Satisfied” its words ring true today, and they give us a clue. The words to this old song say this, “I am satisfied with Jesus, but the question comes to me, when I think of Calvary, is my Jesus satisfied with me…now that will cut an earthly appetite…God Bless.

It's The Little Things That Count

As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. We are to grow, but growth for growth sake is not fruitful. Just because something is big, it doesn’t make it better. A big crowd doesn’t make it right, as we have seen in many overnight spiritual sensations, and big names fall don’t they. What causes all of this confusion? People do. They do not look at what they are standing on until it begins to sink, and then comes disappointment and hurt.

Actually it is the small things that count. Each of us individually, makes up the “we” of the church, and not the “me” mentality of a country club. We individually are to help one another stay focused on the goal of growth in Christ, and keep each other out of the tossing and changing waves of the sinking boat that the world is in.

When we let Christ be our “Head,” He will fit us together properly, and hold us together spiritually. Now listen to what Paul say’s in Ephesians 4:16, he says that God will supply what each individual part, or what each of us needs, to grow. Hallelujah and the best part is what we each are being built into, the precious and everlasting Love of Christ our Lord, a boat that will never sink, guaranteed…God Bless.

Gerald Barzan, wrote this little poem, “Ten ancient commandments lousing up the fun. Along came prosperity, and then there was none.” What is it about prosperity that causes us to lose sight of God? We start out good, we have grand intentions to do right, and to live right, but it seems when God allows us a little rope, we, as natural sinners, tend to hang ourselves.

Well, the world around us is visual stimulation, and the old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, is definitely true. Then you have other old sayings like this one, “seeing is believing.” We could go on, but you get the picture. Life for us here is sensual. The wonderful creation of the eye, and the other senses that God gave us, are our tools of interpretation, and the inlets to our inner being.

Now if a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words will it take for us to maintain our focus? Well, the word of God is much more powerful than regular words, and we will only maintain our focus on the unseen things while we are here, by reading, remembering, and dreaming, and looking forward to the fulfillment of His promises to us. The Return of Christ, the Streets of Glory, Eternal peace…wonderful pictures that God said would be more than our minds could hold…God Bless.
