Change
A wise man changes his mind, a fool never will.
Spanish Proverb Sayings of Spanish Origin
1 Corinthians 13:11-13
When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love. NASU
Henry Home found the true secret of a happy and blessed life. This is his idea of who is wise in this world, “The truly generous is the truly wise and he who loves not others, lives unblessed.” This wisdom does not come easily to all, in some cases it requires a massive change in the way they understand life.
For most people life is about them and what they can gain from it, and what they can collect for themselves, but it is certainly not about giving things away. Call it the nature of men, “self preservation,” or call it what you may, each one of us born to this world, must determine that our lives will include the nurture and care of others. It seems that the last place we go to find peace, comfort and completion is in the giving away of ourselves.
We find the greatest example of this in our Savior, Christ, who gave Himself freely away for each one of us individually. He was giving each of us a personal hint on how to get the most out of life, and that is in giving ourselves away. The truly wise among us will get the most from His example and will live happy and joyous lives in others. Those that will not make that change will wither away, trying to find happiness in themselves, and miss the greatest secret in life…God Bless.
