A Persuasive Life

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

Calvin Coolidge 1872-1933, Thirtieth President of the USA

1 Cor 2:2-5
For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. NASU

Ralph Waldo Emerson, the American Poet and Essayist, said this of rewards, “The reward of a thing well done is to have done it. There is much in this statement that the church could learn from today. We, as the living Body of Christ, must function as, The Body of Christ, in that we must just as Christ did, live out the Word of God before this dying world.

Your and my words are weak and without strength, but listen to Heb 4:12, “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Now that is not just the spoken word, but more than that it is the power of “The Word” lived, and displayed before the world in faith.

So it comes back again to our walk. We show our hearts in that we live out in faith what we believe the Word of God promises to each one us. It means that there will be times in our lives that the World says, “Do it this way” and we will say no, and go to God’s Word, find our answer, and believe Him even when everything around us tries to persuade us differently. We will decide, to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back…God Bless.
