Things in Common

It is the things in common that make relationships enjoyable, but it is the little differences that make them interesting.

Todd Ruthman

1 Cor 9:20-23
To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law; to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some. I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it. NASU

We all appear to be much the same, but it is the subtle differences that make us all individual, and unique. I really believe though that as much as we are a little different, it is important for us to highlight what it is that we have in common with each other. For instance there is one thing that we all have in common that is a very important event in all of our lives, and that is death.

As Christians we have an assurance in death that others do not have, and that is that at our death our life has just begun. As the world entices us to leave the safe confines of our security in Christ, we can also tempt them with the assurance and security that we have in this life. In life they have many unanswered questions that we have answers to, but we also must take the time to heighten their interest.

Paul says to us, come out of where you are, and live for a moment in the life of someone else. Consider things that would open opportunities in their lives for you to explain to them the hope and security that you have in Christ. Paul is telling us that sharing is partaking in the Gospel, and everything that we do on this earth, is for the sake of the Gospel. To become all things to all, to identify with some, and lead as many as we can to the Shores of Glory…are you partaking…God Bless.
