Those that are most slow in making a promise are the most faithful in the performance of it.

Josh 21:44-45
And the LORD gave them rest on every side, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers, and no one of all their enemies stood before them; the LORD gave all their enemies into their hand. Not one of the good promises which the LORD had made to the house of Israel failed; all came to pass. NASU
Robert Frost, the well known American Poet, wrote this of promise, “But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep.”Many times in our lives we begin to feel as if the weight of the world is on our backs, we have thoughts of despair and a mind to stop and weigh the worth of our burden.
I have watched through the years those weighing the cross before picking it up to place on their shoulder. I have seen it in the eyes and lives of those that take pause to consider what it is to undertake and accept the weight of the cross. Yes, I say it is a weight, and our lives should always show the cross not as a burden, but as a privilege. I have seen those that accepted it quickly, but quickly laid it down, and then those who slowly entered into the task and now carry it with joy.
We have an example, and someone to follow, in Heb 12:2-3, the apostle Paul left us this advice, “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart”…God Bless.
